Sterling on Sunday

Sunday, 9p – midnight

THE YOUNGEST.  Walter was the youngest New York City scheduled talk show host in history. He hosted a how on WXLO FM (Now 98.7 KISS FM) at the age of 20.  He did that again at WNWS FM now HOT 97.1) The weekly show focused on subjects and opinions of interest to young adults such as how to pay for college and how to get a job.

Walter Sterling was the youngest Executive Vice President in the history of NBC. He was put in charge of the NBC FM stations at the age of 26. “I was not popular among my executive peers and I don’t blame them says Sterling.”

At NBC he presented his long held belief that there was a format “between” dreary ballads and hard rock. The format would feature Current adult oriented hits by artists such as Neil Diamond and Barbara Streisand and oldies for pace by the Beatles, Beach Boys and MOTOWN. The name of the format became ADULT CONTEMPORARY.

After NBC he lead the ABC Radio networks for several years before becoming a sought after consultant. He worked on site at Sirius Satellite radio for eight years and made the invitation to HOWARD STERN to come to the new medium.

Three years ago, Chris Oliviero EVP of Programming for CBS asked Sterling to host a talk show once again. Sterling on Sundays was launched.
